Flying high with Steve Soule

August 7, 2021 | Video by Jesse McDougall

Few people can remember back to a time when Montpelier’s Edward Knapp airport regularly saw large passenger jets coming and going. Today, the small state airport survives as an uncrowded base for general aviation aircraft ranging from small visiting jets to a fleet of local, private airplanes.

Waterbury Center resident Steve Soule keeps his two-seater Van’s Aircraft RV-6A homebuilt airplane at the airport. Earlier this summer, reporter Jesse McDougall went along for a flight up over Waterbury. This video story offers insight into what owning a plane in Vermont is like and it has some beautiful views of our town.
