Operations and Marketing Manager (Contractor)

Scope of Work

  • Organization: TURNmusic (Waterbury, VT)

  • Engagement Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

  • Compensation: $10,000 Annual Retainer (paid in monthly installments of $833.33)

  • Time Commitment: Averages ~5 hours per week (~250 total project hours annually). Note: Hours fluctuate seasonally around performance schedules—light maintenance weeks may require 1–3 hours, while concert/event weeks may require 10–12 hours.

Assistant Town Clerk/Treasurer

The Town of Stowe is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Assistant Town Clerk/Treasurer to join its municipal team, working alongside the Town Clerk/Treasurer and an existing Assistant Town Clerk/Treasurer. This public-facing position serves as a first point of contact for residents, visitors, Town staff, and outside agencies while providing administrative support to the Town Clerk’s Office.

The Assistant Town Clerk/Treasurer provides customer service and supports a variety of municipal services, including elections and voter registration, vital records, licenses, land records, passports, cemetery services, fee collection, and general office administration. The position also serves as Acting Town Clerk/Treasurer/Collector of Delinquent Taxes when needed.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.

  • Exercises sound judgment and maintains confidentiality.

Qualifications: Associate degree, three years of office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Occasional evening and after-hours work is required to support elections and other statutory responsibilities.

Senior Accountant

The Town of Stowe is seeking a dynamic, detail-driven Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This exciting opportunity is available due to an internal advancement and offers the chance to play a key role in supporting the Town’s financial operations and long-term success. As Senior Accountant, you won’t just be reconciling numbers — you’ll be supporting transparency, accountability, and sound financial practices. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Processing payroll and accounts payable

  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports

  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes

  • Collaborating on annual budget development and monitoring

  • Participating in audit activities and preparing audit schedules

  • Ensuring compliance with GASB, GAAP, and Town of Stowe financial policies

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative, public sector environment and brings strong accounting expertise. The ideal candidate will have (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA a plus!)

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience (governmental accounting preferred)

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency at Excel is a must. Knowledge of NEMRC municipal software is a plus.

  • Analytical mindset with sharp attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

This is an in-person position. Salary Range: $70,500 - $84,500, depending on qualifications.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of municipal vehicles and equipment, including:

  • Light- and medium-duty vehicles

  • Heavy-duty dump trucks and snowplows

  • Loaders, excavators, and other heavy equipment

  • Emergency response vehicles

  • During winter operations, you’ll also operate snow removal equipment—including plow trucks, wing trucks, and loaders—to help keep Stowe’s roads safe and accessible.

Qualifications

  • Experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light- to heavy-duty vehicles and equipment

  • Vermont Inspection Mechanic Certification

  • Valid Vermont CDL (Class A or B)

  • Experience operating plow trucks and wing trucks preferred

  • Diesel mechanic certification desirable

  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus

  • Ability to respond to emergencies, including nights, weekends, and snow events

Assistant Planning & Zoning Director

Join the Town of Stowe in a key leadership role helping shape one of Vermont’s most vibrant communities. As the Assistant Planning & Zoning Director, you’ll oversee day-to-day land use permitting and development review and provide expert guidance to residents and applicants.

In this role, you’ll review development applications, interpret and administer land use regulations, conduct site inspections, investigate zoning complaints, and collaborate with municipal staff and volunteer boards. You’ll also play an important role in improving processes, supporting enforcement efforts, and delivering exceptional customer service to the public.

We’re looking for a collaborative, solutions-oriented professional with strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to serving the community with integrity and professionalism.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in planning, community development, public administration, or a related field, plus at least three to five years of progressively responsible professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Candidates must have working knowledge of Vermont’s Planning and Development Act (24 V.S.A. Chapter 117) and municipal zoning and subdivision regulations. Candidates must be able to confidently read and interpret site plans and construction drawings, apply land use regulations fairly and consistently, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and work collaboratively as part of a close team.

Competitive pay: $81,267 - $91,520 depending on qualifications.
