Maynard Hayes Green, age 91, passed away peacefully at Copley Hospital on Saturday, July 22, 2023. He was born on September 1, 1931, in Waterbury Center, Vermont, the son of the late John C. Green and Angie E. Hayes. Maynard married Nancy E. Horne on September 14, 1952, in Waterbury.

He attended school in Waterbury and as a young man dedicated his time to working on the family farm. After his marriage to Nancy Maynard served in the United States Air Force in Arizona before returning to the family farm in Waterbury Center. Throughout his life, Maynard had various occupations, including working at the Rock of Ages Corporation in Barre and being a master plumber alongside his brother Merrill.

Maynard was a dedicated member of the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post #59 of Waterbury. In his free time, Maynard enjoyed hunting and had a special love for animals of all kinds. He was truly a jack of all trades, always ready to take on any task that came his way.

Maynard is survived by his two daughters, Marlene Hart of Jericho and Susan Patterson and her husband David of Clarksville, New Hampshire; one son, Maynard John Green of South Duxbury; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two sisters, five brothers, and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center. Please join the family for a reception following at the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post #59 of Waterbury, from 3 to 5 p.m. where family and friends will gather to honor Maynard's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society at centralvermonthumane.org. Maynard had a deep affection for animals and supporting this cause would be a fitting tribute to his memory.
