Vermont State Police on Thursday released images from security cameras at two stores in Waterbury where they are seeking the public’s help on unrelated cases of retail theft and attempted burglary.

The retail theft happened at Shaw’s supermarket on Vermont Route 100 around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22.

According to Trooper Ryan Riegler, Shaw's reported the theft and provided security camera footage with images of two suspects near one of the store entryways. Store management estimated that the pair left with about $100 in unpaid grocery items, Riegler said.

The other incident took place on Tuesday night at Maplewood convenience store and gas station on River Road in downtown Waterbury. Police received a call at 11:30 p.m. reporting an attempted burglary, Riegler said in a news release.

Store staff provided images from security camera footage outside the store’s main entrance showing the suspect wearing a jacket and a hooded sweatshirt underneath.

State Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects involved in both of these incidents. Riegler said investigators do not believe the two events are connected.
