Cabot and Smarties unveil novel candy collaboration

Just in time to hit Easter baskets, Smarties Candy Company and Cabot Creamery have unveiled a groundbreaking innovation in snack engineering: Seriously Smart Cheese, the world’s first cheddar-forward candy tablet.
The collaboration reimagines Cabot’s award-winning Seriously Sharp Cheddar through the unmistakable lens of the iconic Smarties candies. Product developers explain: “Imagine if Cabot cheddar crossed the candy aisle, took on a new shape, and came out sharper, stronger, and Smarties-sized.”
The new creation involved some innovation by the research and development teams at both companies. To create Seriously Smart Cheese, Cabot’s cheddar is carefully pulverized into a fine powder before being re-formed into signature Smarties-style discs. The result is a bold new cheese experience that is dry, stimulating to the taste, and a creation that pushes the boundaries of what cheese can be, according to the corporate announcement.
“At Cabot, we’ve always believed cheese should be everywhere, including the candy aisle,” said Broc Curd, Big Cheese at Cabot Creamery. “We set out to make cheddar more portable. We may have overachieved.”
Smarties’ Head of Product Design Lem N. Pastel said developers looked outside the candy world for the new product concept. “We were inspired by astronauts. And off-grid cheese mongers,” she said. “We asked, what would happen if cheddar got a little smarter?”

In the joint corporate announcement, Smarties and Cabot shared the new product’s boldly unconventional sensory profile:
Texture: Boldly dry. Genuinely genius.
Flavor: Hints of cheese. Smartly balanced.
Scent: Ambitious.
Shelf Life: Unknown.
Consumers will find limited supplies of the new Seriously Smart Cheese at supermarkets, convenience stores and everywhere Cabot cheese and candies are sold. The Waterbury Cabot store on Route 100 is stocked ahead of the candy-forward Easter holiday as well, a company spokesperson noted.
Marketing leaders from the companies say that Seriously Smart Cheese represents a bold new frontier in snack innovation, bringing together two beloved brands to challenge assumptions about cheese, candy, and what belongs in your pocket. The packaging design carries the motto: “Seriously Smart Cheese: Think Smart. Eat Sharp.”
