Green Mountain Roamers Snowmobile Club will honor the late Johnny “Ghost Rider” Lynds with a bridge dedication ceremony and memorial ride on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The event will salute the life and legacy of Lynds, former president of the club and longtime leader in Vermont’s snowmobiling community. Lynds passed away in 2020.
A passionate advocate for snowmobiling and winter recreation in Vermont, Lynds also served for many years as Washington County director for the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST), contributing extensive volunteer time to trail development, rider safety and community outreach.

The Jan. 25 event will take place at a newly installed bridge on Duck Down Trail, off Cotton Brook Road in Mount Mansfield State Forest. The spot is along one of Lynds’ favorite trails. The bridge project was completed by the Snowmobile Vermont–Stowe and the Green Mountain Roamers Snowmobile clubs.
The public is invited to the ceremony and ride, along with riders, club members, family and friends celebrate Lynds’ contributions to the sport and the snowmobiling community he helped strengthen.
Snowmobilers may ride in via trail 212/2/100 from Worcester or Bolton, heading towards Stowe. The bridge is also accessible on foot via an approximately 15-minute walk from the Cotton Brook parking area in Stowe. A cookout will be held at 1 Cotton Brook Road, Stowe.
