Winter is at the doorstep and Waterbury LEAP is running a Button Up weatherization workshop on Friday for homeowners.
The free session will be held in the Steele Community Room at the municipal complex from 6 to 7:30 p.m. No registration is required. The workshop will cover ways to weatherize homes for wintertime to reduce drafts and heat loss, improve insulation and save money on heating.
An expert from Efficiency Vermont will cover:
• The most common ways homes lose energy
• DIY steps to tighten up your house to reduce heat loss
• Energy audits and how they work
• Heat pumps and other energy-efficient heating systems
• Tips for flood resilience
• Many loans, incentives and rebates that are currently available to help with covering costs of improvements
LEAP will provide free pizza and drinks. An energy-efficiency raffle will have prizes, including gift certificates to local hardware stores.
LEAP reminds homeowners that they shouldn’t settle for a cold or drafty house. They invite the community to attend the Friday session to learn how to have a warmer house and save money on energy costs.
Send any questions to Duncan McDougall at duncan@clifonline.org. Waterbury Local Energy Action Partnership is the community’s local energy committee.
