Craig Streeter. 1970-2026
Craig Streeter, 56, of Duxbury, Vermont, passed away at the McClure Miller Respite House following a three-year rollercoaster battle with cancer. He fought hard to the very end for his family.
Born on July 27, 1970, in Berlin, Vermont, Craig was the beloved son of Shirley and David Dow. He was raised in Waterbury Center alongside his three siblings: Misty, Kevin, and Krista. His strong work ethic began in high school, working alongside his father at Vest Construction. He later moved to Cold Hollow Cider Mill, where he made lifelong friends and discovered his passion for truck driving. Craig spent many years behind the wheel for Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, delivering coffee across New England. He also drove for Grow Compost of Moretown and, most recently, Kurlee Fuels of Northfield, where he thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of his coworkers. Craig loved hitting the road at 3 a.m., embracing the quiet, open highway with time to think and enjoy the beautiful Vermont scenery.
Craig married the love of his life, Shannette. Although his dream of growing old with his best friend by his side was cut short, he cherished every moment they spent together. Some of Craig’s favorite memories were of him and Shannette on the water fishing in their little boat. Although Shannette didn’t always love waking at 4 a.m. to head out, Craig always made sure she had fun so she’d want to go again—and she always did. Together, they enjoyed fishing, auto racing (including time spent at Thunder Road), date nights, movies, and caring for their home in Duxbury. Together, they also made a lasting impact on the world through their work in foster care, where many children benefited from Craig’s kindness and quiet leadership.
Craig took immense pride in his children—Addison, Austin, Alex, Avery and Raven—and loved teaching them to fish, hunt, draw and enjoy the outdoors. He was also a deeply proud “Papa” to Teddie, Cooper, Elsie, Walter and Raelynn. Maggie, his yellow lab, was by his side to the very end. Her favorite spot was on top of the coffee table, right next to Craig lying on the couch.
A witty, artistic, and kind man, Craig was always willing to lend a helping hand. For over 35 years, he enjoyed playing Thursday night cards with the same close-knit crew of friends, leaving a spot at the table that can never be filled.
On your next early morning drive, look toward the horizon and think of Craig. He’s out there, enjoying the open road.
Craig is survived by his wife, Shannette LeBlanc-Streeter; his children, Addison Streeter, Austin Streeter, Alex Gaudette (Camie), Avery Gaudette (Emily), and Raven McNary (Brendan); his five grandchildren; his parents, Shirley and David Dow; his sisters, Krista Jones and Misty Hubert (Danny); his brother, Kevin Streeter; and extended family and friends. A service to celebrate Craig’s life will be held on Friday, October 2, at 11 a.m. at the Green Mountain Community Alliance Church in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Craig’s memory to the Green Mountain Community Alliance Church.
