Judith Ann Woodruff, 1940-2025
Judy Woodruff – steadfast wife, mother and grandmother – passed away in the company of family and comfort of home on the land her family has farmed since the 1870s.
Born the sixth of seven children to Bernard and Charlotte (King) Keefe, she was educated at Waterbury schools and was co-captain of the 1957 state championship basketball team.
On September 3, 1960, she married John Woodruff III at St. Andrew’s Church, and they enjoyed 65 years together, raising four children. A grandmother to five granddaughters, Judy hosted weekly play dates and annual family trips to the coast of Maine.
Judy worked in a variety of roles at Harwood Union High School, Waterbury Elementary School and Crossett Brook Middle School. She was the first manager of the Waterbury Farmers Market and continued in that role for several years.
Her absence is deeply felt by her husband, John, children Mary (Alison Ackert), John IV (Darcy), Bill (Kate), Charlotte Strasser (Tom); and granddaughters Hannah, Alice (Nick Lamson), Merrill (Aaron Hope), Grace Woodruff and Madeline Strasser. She also leaves behind her best friend since first grade, Peggy Anderson.
Her Catholic faith was very important to Judy, therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Andrew’s Church 150th Anniversary Fund, 109 S. Main St., Waterbury, VT 05676.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at a date to be determined. Online condolences may be made at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home website.
