Nancy Lee Stanley, 1947-2026

Nancy Lee (Lamotte) Stanley, 79, of Waterbury, Vermont, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at Central Vermont Medical Center, with her son James by her side.

Nancy was born on January 11, 1947, to Alfred Lamotte Sr. and Florence (Dumas) Lamotte. 

On September 25, 1963, she married the love of her life, Thurman (Bucky) Stanley. Together they made their home in Waterbury, where they built a life centered on family, friendship, and creating lasting memories.

Nancy was selfless and nurturing by nature. She always made sure those around her were cared for, often placing the needs of others before her own. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her.

She found great joy in gardening and tending to her flowers, listening to Elvis Presley, and caring for the many beloved dogs and cats she welcomed into her home throughout the years. Nancy especially cherished hosting family holiday gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness.

Nancy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bucky Stanley, and her treasured grandsons, Joshua Stanley and Nicholas Stanley.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Stanley; her son, James Stanley and his wife, Sondra; her grandchildren, TJ Stanley and his wife, Ashley, and Crystal Stridsberg; and her great-grandchildren, Lyvia Stanley, Kinsley Stanley, and Bella Stridsberg.

Nancy's loving spirit, unwavering generosity, and deep devotion to her family will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal services. The family will hold a private graveside ceremony later this summer.
