Silent auction looks to support Vt. immigration legal fund

Local supporters of the Vermont Immigration Legal Defense Fund will hold a fundraising art auction this Friday, Sept. 5, in Waitsfield.
Indivisible Mad River Valley and Camel’s Hump Indivisible will host ARTful Justice 2025, an evening dedicated to “local art, collective action, and community,” according to the groups’ announcement.
All proceeds will be directly donated to the nonprofit Vermont Immigration Legal Defense Fund, a campaign to provide legal aid to individuals facing deportation or detention.
The event will feature a silent auction of artworks donated by local and regional artists representing a range of mediums and styles. The band Granville Daze will provide live music, and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Organizers say that the combination of art and fundraising in support of immigrant advocacy is meant to generate a “spirit of creativity, solidarity and justice.”
The Vermont Immigration Legal Defense Fund supports the expansion of legal resources available to organizations that protect immigrants, asylum seekers, and marginalized people facing deportation.
The ARTful justice event will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 5 at AfterThoughts/Peace Burger, 8 Vermont Route 17, in Waitsfield. For more information, see the event website here or contact indivisiblemrv@gmail.com.
