The Children’s Room preps for annual Tag Sale fundraiser
April 30, 2026 | By Waterbury RoundaboutA rite of spring in Waterbury for families with young children is the popular and typically well-stocked Children’s Room Tag Sale, and this year’s sale is planned for Friday-Saturday, May 15-16.
Families with children from infants through about age 8 – and even expectant mothers – can both pass along their gently used gear, toys and clothing or pick up items other families are ready to hand off with plenty of useful life left.
Relying on families to donate the merchandise and pay by donation, the longtime community nonprofit relies on the event as a key annual fundraiser.
Located in the lower level at Brookside Primary School, The Children’s Room is a drop-in spot for families with young children to visit for playtime, to socialize, and to attend organized activities, workshops, and celebrations. The room also organizes events and outings outside of the school space.
Donating to the sale
The sale relies on families doing their spring cleaning to gather up their gently used baby, kid and maternity clothing and gear, toys, books, games, sports equipment, etc.
Donations will be accepted at the Wesley United Methodist Church at 56 South Main Street, Tuesday through Thursday, May 12-14. Donation hours will be 2:30-5:30 p.m. on all three days.
Use the side entrance to the church’s lower level facing Foundry Street.
Organizers say they will accept maternity clothing and children’s clothing for children up to 8 years. They ask that donations be clean.
In addition to clothing, other categories include outerwear, shoes and boots, sporting gear (bikes, trikes, scooters), toys, games and baby gear (no parts missing). One box of donated books per family will be accepted. Books should be for children up to age 8 or parenting books.
The sale cannot accept car or booster seats, helmets, potties, bathtubs, large furniture, or stuffed animals/dolls, or pillows.
Sale hours
The sale will then be held at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 56 S. Main Street on Friday, May 15, 2-6 p.m., and on Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to noon. Payments will be accepted by cash, check or Venmo.
