Obituary: Kenneth Kreiling

June 24, 1941 - February 2, 2024

Kenneth Kreiling passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024.  Born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, on June 24, 1941, Ken was the son of the late Norman and Lillian Kreiling.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University, master’s and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin, and an advanced law degree from Harvard University. Ken began his career as a research associate at the University of Wisconsin Institute for Research on Law and Poverty. He then worked with the New Haven Legal Assistance Association. In 1976, he joined the faculty at Vermont Law School where he was an accomplished scholar in scientific and expert evidence. Ken loved the law, teaching, researching and learning.

Ken also enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. Incredibly smart, kind and loving, Ken will be missed by all who were privileged to know him.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Blanche Podhajski Kreiling, and daughter Elizabeth Hunt, her husband Scott Lollis, and their children, William, Matthew and Julia. He also leaves his sister Katherine Bollom and her husband Melvin, their daughter Lori and son Timothy, his wife Breah and their children Cooper and Kennedy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. Andrew’s Church in Waterbury, Vermont. There will be a burial service at noon on Monday, Feb. 12, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain, Connecticut. Those who wish may make donations for scholarships in Ken’s name to the Waterbury Rotary Club, the Stern Center for Language and Learning, or Vermont Law School.
