Harwood Math Department seeks volunteers for career presentations

The Harwood Union High School Math Department is seeking guest presenters during the weeks of Dec. 1 and April 6 to talk to students about their careers.

Individuals with a career that uses math in any way are welcome even if it is not a traditional “math job,” according to Math Department Chair Sarah Butler.

“The informal presentation would include an overview of the path you took to your current career, job responsibilities, and a discussion of how you use math, problem-solving and collaboration skills in your work,” Butler said.

Presenters are asked to commit to approximately 40-60 minutes, which would include time for a student question-and-answer session.

The dates for the presentations will be: Dec. 1, 3, 5, and April 6, 8, 10. All presentations would start at 1:50 p.m. In-person visits are preferred, but remote/online presentations will be considered, Butler said.

For more information or to volunteer to be a presenter, please email sbutler@huusd.org.
