Harwood Music Dept.’s annual Citrus Sale is on
October 30, 2025 | By Waterbury RoundaboutHarwood Union Middle/High School’s annual Citrus Sale is now open for orders.
Each fall, instrumental and chorus students collect orders for bulk quantities of oranges and grapefruits as well as for specialty snack peanuts. The shipment order is placed with a supplier in Florida in November. Delivery happens in early to mid-December.
“We have done this for decades, and it’s a great way to bring delicious fruit and nuts to our communities while supporting music scholarships for all of our music students,” explained music teacher Molly Desrochers.
The offerings again are the familiar navel oranges, Ruby Red grapefruit, butter toffee peanuts and honey crunch peanuts. Community members are encouraged to seek out a Harwood music student to place an order by Nov. 14.
The citrus fruit is sold in bulk quantities of either 20- or 40-pound boxes. Oranges are priced at $30 for 20 lbs. or $48 for 40 lbs.; grapefruits are priced at $28 (20 lbs.) and $42 (40 lbs.). Nuts are $8 per can. Delivery is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8.
Proceeds support the Music Department’s lesson program.
Anyone interested in placing an order who does not know a Harwood music student may contact Desrochers at 802-583-8178 or by email at mdesrochers@huusd.org to place an order.
