Moretown: Culvert project to impact River Road school Bus 7 route

A culvert replacement project on River Road in Moretown will result in a one-week road closure and modified school bus routes Oct. 1-7.

The project is part of the town’s FEMA-funded storm event recovery work. The box culvert installation will be done on River Road near the intersection with Hog Hollow Road. The closure is expected to take from Thursday, Oct. 1, to Thursday, Oct. 8, weather permitting.

Harwood Unified Union School District notified families in the area that students taking Bus 7 during this project will be affected.

Morning route adjustments are:

• 7:43 a.m.: Stop at the intersection of River Road and Vermont Route 100B

• 7:56 a.m.: Stop at the intersection of River Road / Jones Brook Road / 3 Mile Bridge Road. Note: The section on Jones Brook will not be covered in the morning due to time constraints on making it to Crossett Brook Middle School and Harwood Union Middle/High School on time.

Afternoon adjustments are:

• 4 p.m.: Stop at the intersection of River Road / Route 100B 

• 4:13 p.m.: Stop at the intersection of River Road / Jones Brook Road / 3 Mile Bridge Road. Note: The bus will take the Jones Brook high school students to their usual stops. 

The district will send communication directly to families once the project is completed, the road is open for travel, and bus routes have been restored.
