Central Vermont Career Center School District has announced that its entered into agreements that will expand availability to advanced Emergency Medical Services education in Central Vermont.

The district will hold a formal ceremony on Sept. 24 to mark its new partnerships with Vermont EMS Districts #6 and #8 in Central Vermont and the University of Vermont Health Network to provide EMS training opportunities. “This partnership addresses critical workforce needs and supports local emergency response capabilities,” the partners said in announcing the effort.

These agreements will result in expanded training programs for first responders and healthcare professionals, including:

  • Two EMT Training Courses (Spring and Fall, 180 hours each)

  • One Advanced EMT Training (250 hours)

  • Quarterly Vermont Emergency First Responder modules (hybrid)

  • EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic recertification programs

  • Skills verification workshops

  • Hybrid Paramedic Training Program, hosted at the Career Center in Barre through the UVM Health Network Paramedic Program, meeting national EMS education standards.

The programs will combine online learning with hands-on training at CVCC’s facilities, providing emergency responders in Central Vermont with local, affordable access to the training they need to protect and serve their communities, according to the announcement.

This collaboration represents a significant investment in Vermont’s emergency response system to bolster workforce readiness and ensure that EMS providers across the region can maintain their required certifications while advancing their skills in emergency care.

The announcement was made by Career Center Director and Superintendent Jody Emerson, UVM Health Network Paramedic Program Director Joshua LaDuke, and Vermont EMS District leaders Joseph Aldsworth in District 6 and Matthew Parrish in District 8.

“By bringing high-level training directly to Central Vermont, we are strengthening our region’s capacity to respond to emergencies and providing new career pathways for Vermonters,” the partners said.

Emerson also shared information on an upcoming paramedic training program that will run from January 2026 through May 2027 with applications now open through Dec. 1. For more information, contact Central Vermont Career Center at 802-476-6237.
