The 68th annual Vermont Antique & Classic Car Meet comes to town this weekend with dozens of vehicles on display, events at Farr’s Field, a car parade on Saturday afternoon and a street party on Stowe Street Saturday night.

Organizers with the Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts organization caution that the events will bring some traffic disruptions and road closures on Saturday.

The parade is scheduled to begin from Farr’s Field on U.S. Route 2 at 3:30 p.m. It will make its way to the roundabout and down Main Street to Park Street, where the procession will pass by a reviewing stand near Rusty Parker Memorial Park and the Waterbury Train Station.

During the parade, regular traffic on Main Street will be limited between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. A detour will be set up to direct southbound traffic on North Main Street to Winooski Street and River Road in Duxbury, to Main Street in Duxbury, and back out to Vermont Route 100 and U.S. Route 2.

Traffic entering Waterbury from South Main Street will be detoured around the parade route at Demeritt Place, through Pilgrim Park to Railroad Street, Union Street and back out to North Main Street.

Also on Saturday, the block of Stowe Street between Main Street and Union Street will be closed to all traffic between 3:30 and 10 p.m. for the street dance party. Antique vehicles will be parked along Stowe Street for pedestrians to view. That event is expected to run from 6 to 10 p.m., according to organizers.

The three-day car show begins on Friday morning and runs through Sunday afternoon. Find the full schedule with many more details online here, including a brochure to download here. Admission is $15 per day; children aged 12 and under get in free.

Some highlights at Farr’s Field are:

  • An all-day antique automotive flea market on Friday and Saturday, starting at 8 a.m.

  • A Saturday fashion show with participants dressed to match the era of their vehicle; Hot Wheels racing on Saturday; judging, prizes, and awards on Sunday; food and concessions all three days.

  • New this year is an addition to the show as the Green Mountain Roamers Snowmobile Club of Waterbury has organized a Vintage Snowmobile & Powersports exhibition. This new collection will feature a variety of machines from the golden days of winter and off-road recreation, including vintage snowmobiles, early ATVs, dirt bikes, and three-wheelers. All of the entries for this exhibit are to be at least 25 years old. Judging and prizes will take place for this event on Sunday.
