If you live in a floodplain or a flood-prone spot, you may have heard about the possibility of elevating your home to minimize future flood damage.

The Waterbury long-term recovery group CReW is hosting a meeting on the state’s Home Elevation Program on Thursday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Main Street fire station in Waterbury. The session can be a starting point for those interested in learning more.

Stephanie Smith from the state's Hazard Mitigation program is coming to talk to local homeowners about how the program works and what to expect as they look into home elevation to reduce flood risk. Federal funding can cover a majority of the cost of building elevation, however the process may be complex. This workshop will aim to help property owners figure out if this could be a good option for them.

More information is available online about the Vermont Structure Elevations & Mitigation Reconstruction program.

For those attending in person, please park on the street or at 51 S. Main St. Do not use the fire station property for parking. There will also be refreshments.

The meeting will be available to stream via Zoom and it will be recorded. Zoom details:
