Continuing efforts to increase participation in Moretown Town Meeting and town meeting decisions, Moretown officials have scheduled a Pre-Town Meeting for Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Moretown Elementary School cafeteria.
Last month, the Moretown Selectboard hosted a Have Your Say Day that drew approximately 35 Moretowners. At that time, the selectboard could take suggestions about the budget and other questions that might appear on the warning for Town Meeting.
Now that the budget is finalized, Pre-Town Meeting is an opportunity to find out about the details. In addition, Moretown town committee chairs will be in attendance to briefly describe their committees’ work and take questions. For anyone interested in volunteering for town service, Pre-Town Meeting will be an excellent opportunity to learn about ways to get involved.
Looking ahead, Town Meeting is Tuesday, March 3, starting at 4 p.m. in the Moretown Elementary School gym.
Following the success of last year, childcare will be provided again during Town Meeting. Watch for a sign-up form for childcare to assure organizers line up enough caretakers, courtesy of Neck o’ The Woods preschool and child care.
With the community’s help, another stellar Moretown potluck experience will bring everyone together in the gym at Town Meeting, too. All are welcome -- with or without a dish. Donations of non-perishable items for Moretown’s food pantry also will be gratefully accepted at Town Meeting.
Details for Moretown Town Meeting are posted on the town website here. View the proposed Moretown fiscal year 2026 budget here.
