On Wednesday night into Thursday morning, crews from five local fire departments, including Waterbury, worked overnight to extinguish a blaze that ultimately claimed the clubhouse and Hogan’s Pub.
No one was in the building at the time and no one was injured fighting the fire, according to fire and resort officials.
In a social media post late Thursday, Golf Club officials wrote: “We are overwhelmed by the support you have all shown us. Thank you for allowing us to be part of such an incredible community. As a reminder, there were no injuries, and we are incredibly grateful to the Warren, Waitsfield, Fayston, Moretown and Waterbury fire departments for their efforts spanning last night into this morning. The clubhouse is a loss, but course infrastructure and carts remain operational.”

So far, there has not been any word on the cause of the blaze. Warren Fire Chief Jeff Campbell has not had further information to share as of Saturday.
Sugarbush communications director John Bleh told the Valley Reporter newspaper that the fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday by a neighbor. Bleh told the paper security camera footage showed smoke beginning to appear around 10 p.m., but the origin of the fire was unknown. He added that the original structure that was expanded over time was believed to be about 100 years old.
Sugarbush Golf Club reopened today wth limited food and beverage service. The club’s golf pro Roger King offered a video update, noting also that the driving range would be open by donation with contributions going to the Warren Fire Department.
Sugarbush officials stressed that the course was not affected and playing conditions should remain good as long as the mild weather continues. Staff members and firefighters were able to save equipment from the building including mowers, golf carts and some memorabilia from the pub, according to news reports.
