Green Mountain Club hosts free, guided foliage hikes

This fall, the Green Mountain Club is offering free guided hikes throughout foliage season.

This fall, the Green Mountain Club is offering free guided hikes throughout foliage season.

The hikes will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, starting on Friday, Sept. 25 through Saturday, Oct. 10. Each outing will begin at 2 p.m. at the club’s Visitor Center on Vermont Route 100 in Waterbury.

The one-hour guided hike on the 0.7-mile Short Trail will explore what makes fall foliage in Vermont special and what happens to the forests and trees as they transition from summer to fall. Green Mountain Club guides will also share tips and tricks for hiking in Vermont during foliage season.
