Downstreet Housing & Community Development will hold a grand opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting at the new Marsh House Apartments at 51 S. Main Street in Waterbury.

The celebration will be 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, and the community is invited.

If possible, organizers would appreciate an RSVP for planning. Do so with this online form

Applications are open now for the new three-story, 26-unit apartment complex. Downstreet is looking to lease to tenants with low to moderate incomes. Several units also will be dedicated to tenants with developmental disabilities and supported through Upper Valley Services.

The $15.3 million project redevelops a Main Street property that served as the home to Waterbury’s municipal offices prior to Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. It’s named for the family of James Marsh, believed to be Waterbury’s first permanent settler in the early 1780s. His son Elias, who is buried in Waterbury, made his home at the site of the new housing development.
