No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash that brought down some power lines and slowed traffic on Vermont Route 100 in Waterbury on Sunday morning.

Vermont State Police said the incident happened just after 8:30 a.m. on Route 100/Waterbury-Stowe Road near Mansfield Orthopaedics.

Trooper Jacqueline June reported in a news release that a juvenile driver was driving southbound on Rt. 100 and went off the southbound shoulder, hitting a utility pole’s guidewire pole and a tree.

The impact brought down some power lines, and the road was reduced to one lane for travel for several hours while first responders cleared the scene and a Green Mountain Power crew repaired the lines, police said.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unhurt, according to the report. The Volvo SUV sustained extensive front-end and undercarriage damage and was totaled. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash, June’s report noted.

Waterbury Fire Department also assisted troopers at the scene, and Waterbury Ambulance Service responded as well, police said.
