Special patrol including Waterbury results in tickets, warnings, an arrest

Vermont State Police on Tuesday morning conducted a saturation patrol in Orange and Washington counties for several hours resulting in a dozen traffic stops and multiple tickets and warnings issued to motorists.

Four troopers from the Berlin barracks were involved in the operation between 8 and 10:45 a.m. in Williamstown, Waterbury, and along Interstate 89, police said.

“The purpose of the patrol was to detect and identify aggressive drivers while enforcing the motor vehicle laws and promoting safe driving,” police said in their news release after the patrol.

Some of the actions taken included:

  • One driver was ticketed for traveling more than 90 mph in a posted 65 mph zone.

  • One driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

  • Two drivers were arrested for driving with criminally suspended licenses.

The arrest warrant stop happened on Little River Road in Waterbury when troopers said they stopped a Dodge truck for a motor vehicle violation. Their check revealed that the driver, Ramsey Haskins, 33 of Waterbury, had an active arrest warrant and his driver’s license was criminally suspended, police said. Haskins was arrested and cited into Washington County Superior Court, according to police.

In 12 traffic stops, troopers issued nine tickets and six written warnings, according to Trooper Jacob Fox. “The Vermont State Police would like to remind all motorists to drive responsibly, utilize a sober driver, leave a safe distance between vehicles, plan ahead, put their phones down and keep their heads up while driving, especially with the upcoming snow,” Fox said.

Duxbury assault reported to police

Vermont State Police responded to Duxbury on Monday to investigate a report of an assault on Dowsville Road.

Trooper Jacob Fox said police were called just before 4 p.m. to investigate a report where a 64-year-old victim said they were punched in the head while visiting with Patricia Reagan, 53 of Duxbury. Police located Reagan at her home and took her into custody, police said. Reagan was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court Criminal Division on April 6 to answer to the charge of simple assault, police said.
