Vermont State Police say they don’t believe the death of a male skier at Sugarbush Resort on Saturday is suspicious.

Police were called just before 3:30 to the Lincoln Peak section of the Mad River Valley ski area in Warren for a skier found unresponsive. A report from Detective Trooper Robert Lemnah explains that the skier apparently died after a fall on Stein’s Run, where he landed off the trail in a wooded area. Ski patrol members found the man who was unresponsive and brought him to the base of the mountain, where they were met by a Mad River Valley Ambulance crew.

The skier was pronounced deceased due to his injuries, police said. An autopsy will be done at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington to determine the cause and manner of death. Police said they were withholding the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.

This post will be updated when more information becomes available.
