Weekly Road Work reports are assembled with information from the Vermont Agency of Transportation on projects in the region, the Waterbury Public Works Department, and other local highway departments for projects in Waterbury and neighboring communities as necessary.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas.
Waterbury
WEDNESDAY
On Wednesday, May 20, Park Row will be closed near the railroad tracks. Vermont Railway will have a contractor doing paving repairs along the tracks.
An electronic sign placed on Main Street on Thursday, May 14, is in reference to this work.
The project is expected to take just one day, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Another town project to resurface Park Row and Rotarian Way will be scheduled soon and will involve road closures.
THURSDAY
This Thursday, May 21, tree work is planned along Guptil Road near the address 840 Guptil Road, just south of the Kneeland Flats intersection. This is anticipated between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane while this is underway and delays are possible.
Interstate 89 Southbound | Waterbury - Montpelier

The Vermont Agency of Transportation this week is implementing overnight ramp closures on Interstate 89 southbound in Montpelier (Exit 8) and Middlesex (Exit 9) as part of the Montpelier–Waterbury I‑89 Southbound Resurfacing Project.
These closures allow crews to mill and pave the entrance and exit ramps and the work is weather-dependent.
The speed limit in the work areas is reduced to 55 mph, and fines will be doubled.
Closure Schedule
Exit 8 (Montpelier) on Sunday, May 17, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Exit 9 (Middlesex) on Monday, May 18, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Expect minimal daytime delays this week from Wednesday through Friday, May 20-22.
Detour Routes
Exit 8 southbound on ramp: Use Memorial Drive to U.S. 2 East to U.S. 302 East to Berlin State Hwy to Vermont Route 62 West to Exit 7 South.
Exit 8 southbound off ramp: I-89 SB Exit 7 to VT 62 East to Berlin State Hwy to U.S. 302 West to U.S.2 West; or I-89 Exit 9 SB to Middlesex State Hwy to U.S. 2 East.
Exit 9 southbound on ramp: Middlesex State Hwy to U.S. 2 East to Bailey Ave to Memorial Dr to I-89 Exit 8 South.
Exit 9 southbound off ramp: I-89 Exit 8 SB to Memorial Dr to US-2 West (Bailey Ave) to US-2 West to Middlesex State Hwy; or I-89 Exit 10 to VT-100 South to US-2 East to Middlesex State Hwy.
FAYSTON: Bridge replacements | Airport & Randell roads

Now scheduled to start on Monday, May 18, the contractor Winterset will be moving in to work on bridge replacement projects on Airport and Randell Roads in Fayston.
Both roads will be closed to all through traffic during the construction and are expected to remain closed for most of the summer while the new bridges are installed.

In addition, the Fayston road crew has begun their summer to-do list of ditching and road maintenance, and will start replacing culverts next week, beginning with two FEMA-related projects on Dunbar Hill.
