Weekly Road Work reports are assembled with information from the Vermont Agency of Transportation on projects in the region, the Waterbury Public Works Department, and other local highway departments for projects in Waterbury and neighboring communities as necessary.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas along the interstate.

Waterbury Highway Department Supervisor Celia Clark said that a crew will be adding gravel to a section of Little River Road this week and also patching asphalt areas in the village. None of the work will involve road closures. Motorists should be alert for workers to slow down and give them space.

EXIT 10 NIGHT RAMP CLOSURES
Night work at the Exit 10 on and off ramps in Waterbury is scheduled to begin – weather permitting – overnight Sunday and Monday nights.
This will involve closing the southbound on- and off-ramps for pavement milling from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Sunday, and again on Monday for paving.
For this work, the Exit 10 southbound on/off ramps will be closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles, and motorists should follow a signed detour.
Should weather not allow, the ramp closures and this work will be moved into Tuesday overnight, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Updates will be issued if there are any additional schedule changes.
This week’s schedule also calls for:
Sunday and Monday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Motorists also can expect one lane of travel open between Exits 11 and 10. Motorists are urged to use both lanes to the merge point and should anticipate slow-moving travel and traveling on a milled surface.
Tuesday through Thursday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Following the milling and paving with ramps closed, night work within the Exit 10 ramp area will continue without ramp closures overnight through Thursday.
In addition to the ramp work, guardrail and shoulder work will continue through the project area this week during the daytime. That schedule this week is Monday-Friday, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Reminders: Do not follow construction vehicles into the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.

The resurfacing project on Interstate 89 southbound between Waterbury and Montpelier is winding down. This past week, crews completed installing new signs, shoulder material, and pavement markings near the ramps. They began work on plug joints on the bridges and installing median reflectors.
For the week ahead starting Monday, Aug. 17, through Friday, Aug. 21, work is scheduled between 5:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Crews will continue installation of asphalt plug joints at the bridge joints and approaches. Guardrail installation also is ongoing, along with median reflectors. Workers are also doing general project cleanup.
Motorists should expect minor delays during working hours due to southbound lane closures from Exit 10 in Waterbury to Exit 8 in Montpelier.
