Road Work | Week of Aug. 24-28

Weekly Road Work reports are assembled with information from the Vermont Agency of Transportation on projects in the region, the Waterbury Public Works Department, and other local highway departments for projects in Waterbury and neighboring communities as necessary.

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas along the interstate.


Waterbury

This spot will be updated should there be noteworthy projects this week.


Bolton

Paving on Duxbury Road is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Aug. 25, between Honey Hollow Road and the Bolton/Duxbury town line. 

The project is expected to last until Sept. 4 and will complete repairs to the road section done this summer after storm damage. 

One lane will remain open through the paving work, but motorists should expect some delays. 


Interstate 89 | Richmond-Waterbury, southbound

Over the past week, guardrail work continued along this project area. The Exit 10 southbound on- and off-ramps were milled and paved. 

In the week ahead, crews will continue paving the first leveling course of pavement; they also will continue guardrail work. The anticipated work schedule for Monday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 28, will be from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Motorists can expect one-lane travel between Exits 11 in Richmond and 10 in Waterbury. Drivers are urged to use both lanes to the merge point and they should anticipate slow-moving travel and traveling on milled surfaces. 

Reminders: Do not follow construction vehicles into the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph; fines will be doubled.


Interstate 89 | Waterbury-Montpelier, southbound

The resurfacing project on Interstate 89 southbound between Waterbury and Montpelier is winding down.

Last week, crews worked on plug joints on the bridges and installing median reflectors. After continuing this work on Saturday, Aug. 22, crews during the week, Aug. 24-28, will continue installation of guardrail and median reflectors and work on general project cleanup tasks.

The work schedule this Monday through Friday will be 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Motorists should expect minor delays during working hours due to southbound lane closures from Exit 10 in Waterbury to Exit 8 in Montpelier. Also, the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph in work areas, and fines are doubled.
