Road Work | Week of July 27-31

Weekly Road Work reports are assembled with information from the Vermont Agency of Transportation on projects in the region, the Waterbury Public Works Department, and other local highway departments for projects in Waterbury and neighboring communities as necessary.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas along the interstate.
Waterbury
The Town Highway Department plans to replace culverts on Perry Hill Road on Tuesday, July 28, and another on Perry Lea on Thursday, July 30. The Perry Hill Road project will be near the intersection with Upland Mowing.
On Tuesday, Perry Hill Road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. between Upland Mowing and 2398 Perry Hill Road. The road crew will put out warning signs the day before the work, which is weather-dependent.
Other small projects will be ongoing around town. Motorists are asked to be alert and to slow down and give crews room in work areas.
Stowe

Stowe Hollow Road will be closed beginning Monday, July 27, between Cross Road and the intersection of Upper Hollow Road for a culvert replacement project. The closure is expected to last two weeks.
Emily’s Bridge at the intersection of Covered Bridge Road, Stowe Hollow Road, and Gold Brook Road will also be closed to vehicular traffic during the Stowe Hollow Road closure, according to town officials.
Motorists are asked to plan accordingly and use an alternate route.
Warren
West Hill Road in Warren will be closed to through traffic until Friday, July 31, for work on a bank stabilization project. The closure is between 354 West Hill Road and 769 West Hill Road. This closure will not affect access to any homes or driveways, and residents will still be able to reach their properties.
Motorists should plan ahead, use alternate routes if traveling through the area, and allow extra travel time during the construction period. For more information, call 802-496-2709.
Interstate 89 | Waterbury-Montpelier, southbound

Work on this project has reached completion of the wearing course (final paving layer), and installation has begun on pavement markings.
This week, motorists should expect delays during working hours due to multiple lane closures between Exit 10 in Waterbury and Exit 8 in Montpelier. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., for installation of shoulder material, ongoing removal of temporary pavement markings, sign installation, and weather permitting, continued installation of permanent pavement markings.
The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.

Interstate 89 Southbound | Richmond-Waterbury, southbound
For this resurfacing project, Milling and guardrail work continued last week.
This week, motorists can expect one-lane of travel between Exits 11 in Richmond and 10 in Waterbury with occasional northbound closures at the U-Turns during working hours.
Motorists are urged to use both lanes to the merge point and should anticipate slow moving travel and traveling on a milled surfaces near Exit 10.
The anticipated work schedule for this week, Monday through Friday, is 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., with continued milling and guardrail work.
Do not follow construction vehicles into the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
