Road Work | Week of Sept. 21-25
September 21, 2026 | By Waterbury RoundaboutWeekly Road Work reports are assembled with information from the Vermont Agency of Transportation on projects in the region, the Waterbury Public Works Department, and other local highway departments for projects in Waterbury and neighboring communities as necessary.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution through work zones and to follow posted speed limits. Speeding fines are doubled in work areas along the interstate.

Bolton
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Duxbury Road will have a partial closure for geotechnical surveying.
The closure time window is anticipated to be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting after the school bus has gone through.
The section affected will be between the footbridge and Honey Hollow Road. Motorists should plan to take an alternate route.
Interstate 89 | Richmond-Waterbury, southbound

Paving continues on the Interstate 89 resurfacing project between Richmond and Waterbury along the southbound lanes. Crews also have begun focusing on bridge joint areas.
The schedule for this week through Friday, Sept. 25 is as follows:
Night work on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 20-21, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. with the southbound off ramp at Exit 11 closed for paving (weather permitting). A detour will be marked during the closure.
Night work on Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 22-24, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the Waterbury Exit 10 southbound on- and off-ramps, which will be closed for paving (weather permitting).
Note that if weather is favorable, the ramp closures may not be necessary every night. Detours will be marked during the closures.
Daytime work Monday through Friday, Sept. 21-25, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. will involve work on bridge joints throughout the project area.
This week, motorists can continue to expect one lane of travel between Exits 11 and 10 during all working hours. Motorists are urged to use both lanes to the merge points and to anticipate slow-moving travel and uneven lanes.
Reminders: Do not follow construction vehicles into the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and fines will be doubled.
Interstate 89 | Waterbury-Montpelier, southbound

The resurfacing project on Interstate 89 southbound between Waterbury and Montpelier is close to completion.
Final project cleanup continues between Exit 10 and Exit 8.
Motorists should expect minor delays during working hours due to intermittent southbound lane closures.
