LETTER: Long live Waterbury

August 27, 2021 | By Duane Peterson

To the editor:

As we reflect on the hardships wrought by Tropical Storm Irene on our beloved community 10 years ago, I'm reminded of the role that painful period had in our coming to Waterbury.

When James Moore and I prepared to launch SunCommon, we needed a place to plant the headquarters. Seeing the devastation that Waterbuty had just endured, we figured this community could use our little boost. So we adopted Waterbury as our company's home, and have been growing ever since – now at 150 employees shopping and eating local, with many of us making our homes here.

Thanks for having us, and long live wonderful Waterbury!
