This weekend marks the 10 years since Tropical Storm Irene slammed into Vermont, causing widespread flooding and destruction including in Waterbury, Duxbury, and nearby communities. As events commemorate this milestone decade of recovery, rebuilding and resilience, we'd like to hear from readers.

What lessons did you learn from Irene and the aftermath of the disaster? How do you think Irene has shaped our community, your own neighborhood or family in the past decade? What does this anniversary have you reflecting on in 2021?

Send your signed submissions, 250 words or fewer, to waterburyroundabout@gmail.com with ‘Irene’ in the subject line.

Thanks for writing.
