Howard Dean: Supporting Molly Gray in lieutenant governor primary

To the Community:

When I was governor of Vermont, I built on the foundation laid by Gov. Madeleine Kunin to dramatically expand Dr. Dynasaur so no Vermont child would go without access to healthcare. We did it not only because it was the right thing to do, but also because we knew it would lower costs for working families, employers and our state. For more than 30 years, virtually all Vermont children under 18 have had health care coverage. Now it’s 2026, and we’re facing a similar challenge. Healthcare is bankrupting Vermont. Specifically, health insurance premiums are now the biggest cost driver in Vermont education spending and are absolutely crushing employers and working families. Vermont needs leaders willing to act with urgency, courage and fierce persistence to make universal primary care a reality for every Vermonter regardless of age or income. This is the only way we truly bring down costs in Vermont, while delivering on a basic human right — healthcare.

That’s why I’m proud to support my friend Molly Gray for lieutenant governor. Molly supports universal primary care — a practical next step that builds on what we know works. Having served as lieutenant governor, Molly knows exactly how to use the office to help make it happen. Molly grew up with Dr. Dynasaur, is a mom and caregiver to her mom who battles multiple sclerosis — Molly gets how important access to primary care can be, especially in rural areas. Molly is stepping up with real solutions, experience and a strong coalition of support to get it done.

We’ve seen what’s possible. With the right leadership, we can do it again. Let’s send Molly Gray back to the lieutenant governor’s office, and make universal primary care a reality for every Vermonter!
