LETTER: American Flatbread benefit supports mentoring program

To the Community: 

Everybody Wins! Vermont is excited to be the recipient of an American Flatbread Benefit Bake on Thursday, Oct. 16. Please join us at American Flatbread in Waitsfield where $5 of every flatbread sold (dine-in or take-out) will benefit Everybody Wins! Vermont.

Everybody Wins! Vermont is a nonprofit literacy mentoring organization that operates in 21 schools across Vermont including two in the HUUSD -- Waitsfield Elementary School and Brookside Elementary School in Waterbury. Everybody Wins! matches adult volunteers from the community with children in elementary schools for reading, games, and relationship building. Mentoring relationships are one-on-one and meet weekly for the duration of the school year with many relationships lasting for multiple years.

Everybody Wins! Vermont focuses on building strong intergenerational relationships and the love of reading. As one Waitsfield teacher said, “All these students really looked forward to seeing their mentor each week. They all really value that time to read, discuss, and play! Such a wonderful program.”

Everybody Wins! Vermont is currently celebrating our 25th anniversary and hopes to match over 500 Vermont children with reading mentors this year!
