LETTER: Chris Viens is ‘a hard worker who will get things done’

February 27, 2026

To the Community:

I admit I did not know Chris Viens before I saw his posts on Front Porch Forum. What he said really hit me. Someone who thinks like I do. Someone who is tired of endless studies and planning that goes nowhere, how long have we been trying to fix affordability and housing issues.

Don is a great guy. He was an amazing principal while my kids were young. He has done a lot for Waterbury as a member of the Rotary, and for his contributions to our town and children, I am forever grateful. He has not been attending the select board meetings. I don't understand the last-minute push to be added as a write-in candidate. Chris has done the work. He has been at the meetings. He did what he needed to get on the ballot. Even with the deep respect I have for Don, I do not share his vision for Waterbury's future when it comes to spending and priorities. I don't need a great guy without a plan. I need a hard worker who will get things done.

Below is taken from a recent post by Chris Viens. Join me in voting for some common sense on the board! If you have any questions, I am happy to have conversations with anyone who would like to talk.

From Chris Viens, candidate for the 3-year Select Board term:

“Here is what I offer: Real solutions, not vague “initiatives.” I won't vote to move your tax dollars to non-profits for vague programs. I want that money protecting your home, your road, and your wallet.

“Experience over Ideology: You cannot afford to let ideology control a $6 million budget. You don't call a committee. You call someone who knows how to fix it. I've done the job before, and I'm ready to do it again — starting day one.

“If you vote based on perception, you aren't getting the facts. If you want a board that focuses on the physical and financial realities of this town, I am asking you to show up and vote.”
