LETTER: Helping unhoused folks in Central Vermont

January 26, 2025

The Community:

A month ago, there was a post on Front Porch Forum from Stefanie Pinard looking for specific items to help unhoused people in central Vermont. Kit Walker contacted me to see if we could organize a collection drive to help. We contacted Stefanie and Pastor Peter Plagge and here is the plan:

Please drop off the following items listed below to the Waterbury Congregational Church, 8 N. Main Street (side entrance), over the next two weeks – Jan. 27 to Feb. 6 – Tuesdays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Items needed:

  • Warm winter coats (men’s and women's size L or XL needed especially)

  • Adult-size warm gloves

  • Adult-size snow pants

  • Adult-size winter boots

Other items will be collected at a future date.

A little about the program that Stefanie works for: People's Health & Wellness Clinic, located in Barre, serves Central Vermont and is one of the nine Vermont Free Referral Clinics in the state, and one of the four that see patients (the others are strictly referral clinics).
Link for more info:
The People’s Health & Wellness Clinic is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that offers free, high-quality health and dental care and social services to those who are uninsured or unable to afford health care.
We would like to thank, in advance, all of the amazingly generous folks in our community for helping those less fortunate.

Sincerely,

Stefanie Pinard, Kit Walker, Pastor Peter Plagge and Carol Baitz
