LETTER: Supporting Don Schneider for Waterbury Select Board
February 16, 2026To my family members, friends, and the Waterbury community,
Our town is navigating an important period of leadership transition. Moments like this call for leaders who are steady, experienced, and deeply rooted in the community, people who understand Waterbury’s history, values, and future possibilities. That is why I am proud to support Don Schneider as a write-in candidate for the three-year term on the Waterbury Select Board.
Don has dedicated decades of service to Waterbury in ways that reflect both leadership and care. He previously served four years on the Select Board, bringing firsthand knowledge of town governance and decision-making. For 13 years, he served as principal of Waterbury’s primary school, supporting generations of families and helping shape a learning environment grounded in respect and inclusion. His decade-long involvement with the Waterbury Rotary Club further demonstrates his commitment to civic engagement and service. Through his leadership with MakerSphere, Don has also championed creativity, access, and opportunity, ensuring that innovation and community-building go hand in hand.
What I respect most about Don is his approach to leadership. He believes in civil, respectful local governance, listening carefully, welcoming diverse perspectives, and disagreeing constructively when necessary. He understands that strong communities are built not through division, but through collaboration, transparency, and trust. Don approaches equity not as an abstract concept, but as something deeply practical and local: fair access to town services, open and accountable processes, and responsible stewardship of shared resources so that all residents can thrive.
At a time when Waterbury needs both continuity and thoughtful leadership, Don offers the institutional knowledge, stability, and calm presence that help communities move forward with confidence. Just as importantly, he values community voice and honors the strength of a healthy, democratic process.
If you care about collaborative leadership, fairness, and the long-term well-being of Waterbury, I strongly encourage you to write in Don Schneider for the Waterbury Select Board’s three-year term.
