LETTER: Tim Ashe seeks state Auditor role

To the Community:

As State Auditor, I will be an independent, objective taxpayer watchdog who follows the facts wherever they lead.
When I announced my campaign, I said I’d use the tools of the office to focus on the things that affect Vermonters the most -- rising health insurance premiums, the need for more affordable homes to own and rent, unacceptable rising property taxes, and the unique challenges facing smaller towns.
Those are my ideas, and now I want to hear yours.
When thinking about a state program, have you ever thought “someone ought to look into that”? Have you hoped an independent set of eyes would be trained on the state’s efforts addressing a particular challenge? Have you ever felt that “something just doesn’t add up”?
If the answer is “yes” to any of those questions, tell me more! Help shape my accountability agenda.

The State Auditor makes sure tax dollars are being used properly and that programs are being run effectively, and answers only to the public. I know I'll fulfill those duties better with your input and suggestions.

Tim Ashe is the Democratic candidate for state Auditor. He has been Vermont’s Deputy State Auditor since 2021 and is a former state senator. Ashe has served in other public roles, including as a Congressional staffer. He worked to develop affordable housing for a decade with Cathedral Square in Burlington and currently is president of the board of Community Health Centers, Vermont’s largest non-hospital primary care organization.
