LETTER: Your vote matters
February 23, 2026To the Community:
Members of the Harwood School Board and state Rep. Dara Torre answered critical questions Thursday night and on Feb. 4 about this year's proposed school budget, the complex education funding formula, district consolidation discussions, and more.
The School Board is working hard to balance the needs of our students with the reality of rising costs. We've had to make cuts – about $7.5 million over the past three years – while costs for health care, special education, and building maintenance continue to grow. Your support for the budget ensures we can maintain our commitment to our students and keep our dedicated, full-time teachers.
Watch the recordings: See the full budget forums on our YouTube Channel from the February 4 meeting and the February 19 meeting.
Get the facts: Review the major financial issues the School Board is facing in the Budget Talking Points 2026 document.
Vote by March 3: Vote for the budget on or before March 3. Ballots are available now from each town clerk's office or by requesting an absentee ballot online from the Secretary of State’s voter portal.
