Town of Waterbury: Notice of Public Hearing

The Town of Waterbury is considering making an application to the State of Vermont for a CDBG Disaster Recovery Planning Grant, and a CDBG Disaster Recovery Implementation Grant. A public hearing will be held at noon on September 22 nd in the Steele Room at Town hall, located at 28 North Main Street, Waterbury, VT 05676. Agendas will also be posted at Town Hall, and at both post offices in Waterbury. The post offices are located at 47 North Main Street, Suite 2, and at 1787 Guptil Road. The purpose of the hearing is to obtain the views of citizens on community development, to furnish information concerning the

amount of funds available and the range of community development activities that may be undertaken under this program, the impact to any historic and archeological resources that may be affected by the proposed project, and to give affected citizens the opportunity to examine the proposed statement of projected use of these funds. The proposal is to apply for $4.25 million for Randall Meadow, and for $300,000 for Woody Avenue. The CDBG funds will be used to accomplish the following activities:

Randall Meadow: Implementation grant application for engineering, project design, environmental and archeological review, and removal of approximately 100,000 cubic yards of silt, soil and other material to create additional water storage capacity in the event of a future flood.

Woody Avenue: The project will include conceptual planning, design, permitting, engineering, and related expenses to construct a new public works storage building at 50 Woody Avenue, to realign the parking lot and ensure sufficient school parking exists, to create the potential for new affordable and/or senior housing to be constructed on the site, to provide for municipal

water and sewer to service the property, to design for stormwater mitigation, to provide other public amenities, and to ensure the proposed project receives public input and guidance.
