Fall foliage 2021

Foliage shots from our readers

It's hard to beat autumn in Vermont and just as tourists from seemingly everywhere flock here to take in the colors, the crisp air, the apples, pumpkins and craft fairs, locals appreciate the show nature puts on as we go about our daily routines.

Many thanks to all of the readers who sent in their snapshots from their hikes and bike rides, their front porches and backyards. It's not over quite yet - enjoy these final days before all the color is crunching underfoot.

When leaf-peeping is your job

If the past few weeks - and weekends especially - have felt … well, crowded at times, it’s because it’s been pretty crowded out there. Getting on and off Interstate 89 in Waterbury and then getting around town and to and from Stowe in particular has been a challenge. If you’re not in a hurry, it’s not a big deal. And if you know the backroads, you likely were treated to some gorgeous scenes.

No one likely knows this better than photographer Gordon Miller who every day is out chasing assignments for Waterbury Roundabout, the Stowe Reporter, and the Morrisville News & Citizen. Gordon has been in practically every leaf-peeper traffic jam in the area lately. (See this glimpse from The Stowe Reporter earlier this month.)

Yet while he’s documented the slowdowns, he also caught plenty of unique shots, too.
