The Harwood Boys Lacrosse team returned from South Burlington High School Friday evening victorious in the Division II state championship match where they prevailed 11-7 over previously undefeated and top-ranked Rice Memorial High School. Waterbury Fire Department volunteers mobilized at the news of the win and had three trucks ready at the Interstate-89 off ramp to meet the team bus to escort it through town as cheering fans waved along Main Street and honked horns from passing vehicles. Jubilant players joined in the celebration, cheering out the windows as the bus rolled through town.
