Harwood Union Summer Fun Runs begin

Nineteen runners took part in the first Harwood Fun Run of the summer on the beautiful Harwood trails on Monday, July 6.

In the Kids’ Run, Hazel Dix of Warren finished first, followed by Ana Olson of Warren.

Sierra Dix of Warren finished first in the 3K with a time of 17:28 followed by Stephanie Dix of Warren at 18:09, Caitlin Hollister of Waterbury at 19:29, Jackson Migonis and Alison Migonis of Waterbury at 20:48, Zander Ernstof of Waterbury at 22:31, and Landon Simard of Waterbury at 22:31.

In the 5K, Brody Hackett of Waterbury took first with a time of 19:51 followed by Dan Dix of Warren at 21:12, Andrew Reid of Middlesex at 22:17, Jon Floyd of Waterbury at 23:39, Graham Schaefer of Waitsfield at 23:50, Trey Isham of Duxbury at 24:10, Serena Wilcox of North Duxbury at 25:04, Andy Metcalf of North Duxbury at 28:37 and Dahlia Jordan of Moretown and Julia Cisz of Duxbury at 28:26.

The Harwood Union High School Cross Country team will host Fun Runs weekly on Mondays this summer. The next one is scheduled for Monday, July 13. 

Registration starts at 6 p.m. The first race is the Kids’ Run at 6:20 p.m. The 3K and 5K runs follow at 6:30 p.m.

Entry fee is $5; kids age 6 and under are free. All proceeds support the Harwood Union High School Cross Country team trip to the Festival of Champions in Belfast, Maine, on Oct. 3.
