Registration is open now through Oct. 1 for Harwood Youth Basketball for players in grades 1-6.

The recreational league provides an opportunity for youngsters to have fun, stay active through the winter, and learn the game of basketball.

Practices begin in early November with games starting in late November/early December. The season ends the week before February school break.

Organizers say that due to limited gym space and growing interest, the league may explore some new formats such as Mini Metro teams, mixed Mad River Valley-Waterbury teams, and intramural opportunities.

Signing up early helps organizers set up teams, ensure uniforms arrive on time, and recruit coaches.

Fees: $75 per player for girls and boys in grades 1-2; $125 for girls and boys in grades 3-6. Fees help cover insurance, equipment, referees, and jerseys (which players keep). Scholarships are available. Contact Nick Managan with an email to nmanagan@gmail.com for details.

Find more information and sign up online at registration.teamsnap.com.

The program also is looking for adult volunteers to participate as coaches, board members, and schedulers.

“You don’t need to be an expert—patience, enthusiasm, and availability go a long way,” explains league president Brian Godfrey. “Many hands make light work and a more fun season for everyone!”

Those interested in volunteering should contact Godfrey at brian.godfrey@mmuusd.org.
