Small pack gets in a Fun Run at Harwood ahead of Monday’s storms

A small but dedicated group of runners braved the heat and humidity to get in a Fun Run at Harwood before the thunderstorms struck Monday evening.

Patrick Hamel of Duxbury finished first in the 5K with a time of 22:58, followed by Jake Pittman of South Duxbury at 25:50, Serena Wilcox of North Duxbury at 27:00, Asher Murray of Waterbury at 29:24, Dacia Portnoy of San Antonio, Texas at 31:49, and Heidi Cutler of Moretown at 32:56. 

Max Murray of Waterbury finished first in the Kids’ Run. 

The final Harwood summer Fun Run is next Monday, Aug. 17. Registration in the gazebo starts at 6 p.m. The Kids’ Run begins at 6:20 p.m. and the 3K/5K runs go at 6:30 p.m. 

Fee is $5 per runner; no charge for kids age 6 and under. All proceeds support the Harwood Union Cross Country teams.
