Hannah’s House Hosts free wellness series in May

April 23, 2026 | By Waterbury Roundabout

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Hannah’s House is offering a free series of wellness sessions led by multiple local practitioners on various topics each Tuesday.

The series aims to raise awareness around mental health care, reduce stigma and offer support to individuals of all ages.

The Tuesday events will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Crossett Brook Middle School.

“Our vision for the series is to provide locally-accessible tools and education that strengthen community mental health,” explains Chrissy Rivers, executive director at Hannah’s House. “There are a variety of wonderful practitioners in Waterbury; we want to provide the opportunity to practice self-care, right here.”

The dates and topics are:

  • May 5: Hannah’s House Therapist Heidi Robbins invites parents and caregivers to an open dialogue about parenting youth of all ages. Heidi will give a brief overview, answer questions and provide resources while bringing her enthusiasm for children to the center of the conversation.

  • May 12: Experience the power of Tapping with Nicole Hovell, certified EFT Tapping practitioner and mental health counselor. In this engaging and supportive workshop, you’ll be gently guided through a simple yet powerful technique that involves tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on thoughts or emotions, helping to calm the nervous system and release stress. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just in need of a reset, this experience offers a space to slow down, reconnect, and feel more grounded in your body. No prior experience is needed.

  • May 19: Sara Headley, the founder and family nurse at Mint Health, will teach how exercise can heal, protect and transform our mental and physical health.

  • May 26: Find comfort in slowing down and being with your breath. Nicole Grenier, owner of Chase Mountain Wellness and a Kripalu meditation teacher, will discuss various benefits and approaches to meditation and mindfulness. She will also lead a brief seated chair meditation offering that is welcoming, supportive and non-judgmental. No experience necessary.

Each class will include complimentary light refreshments, door prizes and chair massage. Childcare is available with advance notice. Sessions are geared towards adults, with the exception of the May 12 Tapping/EFT class, which is appropriate for all ages.
