Now in its sixth year, “Broadway in Vermont” returns to Duxbury with Broadway stars performing a special outdoor summer concert in the Green Mountains on July 20.

Vermonter and Broadway actor Merritt David Janes, who most recently starred in the original Broadway cast of “SMASH” and “Back to the Future,” assembles a talented group of fellow actors for the special program.

The show is scheduled for 6 p.m. on the grounds at Moose Meadow Lodge in Duxbury. Accompanied by a live band, the cast members will perform hits from classic and contemporary Broadway musicals, as well as some original songs. In between, the singers will share stories from their careers with the audience.

Moose Meadow co-owner, event co-host, and a musician himself, Willie Docto describes Broadway in Vermont as “a magical concert experience.” Guests arrive and walk along wooded paths to reach the inn’s peaceful setting with a trout pond and mountain views. “The natural acoustics of the forest will make the music touch your soul,” he said.

Originally from Colchester, Janes is a graduate of the Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City and is an alumnus of the University of Maine. His career has spanned numerous Broadway touring productions, including as Robbie Hart in the title role of “The Wedding Singer” and as the infamous murderous barber in “Sweeney Todd.” Other credits include Lumiere in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” national tour, Lord Farquaad in a world tour of “Shrek,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “Phantom of the Opera,” and “School of Rock.”
