Frederico “Fred” Dominguez, 1947-2026

Frederico “Fred” Dominguez, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 23, 2026, surrounded by his oldest son and his family.

Fred was born on April 3, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, to Reynalda and Frederico Dominguez.

He is survived by his three sons: Brian Dominguez and his wife, Sohee, of Colorado Springs; Michael Dominguez and his wife, Eve, of Utah; and Marshall Dominguez of Burlington, Vermont.

Fred also leaves behind his lifetime partner and fiancée of 27 years, Billie Sue Potts, along with her children: Mya Potts and her partner, Josh, of Wolcott, Vermont; Lukas Potts-Warren of Waterbury Center, Vermont; Felicia LaClair and her husband, Sam, of Moretown, Vermont; and Starr Potts and her partner, Ethan, of Rochester, Vermont. Fred was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, with one more expected to join the family in November.

Family meant everything to Fred. He cherished spending time with his children, extended family, and especially his grandchildren, creating lasting memories with those he loved.

After moving to Vermont to attend the Culinary Institute, Fred combined his passion for cooking with his entrepreneurial spirit by starting an in-home business preparing authentic Mexican food, which he delivered to many food co-ops throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. He later settled in Waterbury, where he opened Aztlan Mexican Food, sharing his love of cooking and bringing people together through his meals.

Fred was an active member of the Waterbury Rotary Club for many years. During the holiday season, he became a familiar and beloved figure in the community as Santa Claus, with Billie Sue faithfully by his side as Mrs. Claus, bringing joy to countless children and families each winter.

Fred will be remembered for his generous heart, warm smile, love of family, dedication to his community, and passion for sharing good food with others.

In accordance with Fred's wishes, there will be no formal services, and memorial donations are not requested. Those who wish to express their condolences are welcome to send cards to: Billie Sue Potts, 36 State Drive, Apt. 303, Waterbury, VT 05676.
