Jemma Halter

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Jemma Halter, on the morning of July 4, 2026, at the age of 20. Jemma battled a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma, and in the end, there were no treatments to outrun the disease. She was at peace and surrounded by those who were closest.

Jemma brought love, joy, and light into the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her kind heart, beautiful spirit and the warmth she shared so freely with family and friends. Whether through her humor, compassion or quiet strength, Jemma made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her.

She is lovingly survived by her mother, Brenda Reeder of Waterbury; her father, Brock Halter of Carlsbad, California; her brother, Jonah Halter of Burlington; and her longtime boyfriend, Bode O'Connell of Waterbury. She will be forever in their hearts.

Jemma's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. As we all know, this is a small community, so please say hello to us if you see us in passing. Please mention Jemma’s name and let us know you remember her fondly. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the time we shared with her and the many precious memories she leaves behind. We will always remember our sweet girl.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Waterbury Congregational Church at 10 a.m. The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life next door at The Reservoir from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Family and friends are invited to eat, drink and be merry to celebrate Jemma's life and honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be performed in Jemma's memory.
